Spring 1 Y6

This half term we have done a huge amount of learning and growing as we have adapted to our new type of lessons – whether they be at home or at school.

Our class novel is Wonder by RJ Palaccio. We thoroughly enjoyed this topic as we debated the topic of kindness and how people are treated by others and indeed, how they treat themselves. This linked to our work during Children’s Mental Health Week and Safer Internet Day also.

We wrote debate texts based around facial deformities in the main stream media and completed philosophy circles to provide a basis for discussion around this. We made our own precepts and displayed them on our kindness tree within our classroom.

In Maths we looked at measurements and algebra and in Science we have been learning all about the ‘Theory of Evolution.’

In other areas we have had been inundated with snow and challenged the children at home to a snowman building competition.

All in all we have had a challenging but extremely fun half term – we are looking forward to the half term and then getting started on our next topic – The Heart.
